What's inside: John Deere publication TM1621, the factory repair manual for the 8000T and 8010T series rubber-track tractors - 8100T, 8200T, 8300T and 8400T plus the 8110T, 8210T, 8310T and 8410T - 1,380 pages. General information and dealer predelivery open it, then engine, the diesel fuel and cooling systems, a large electrical section, the transmission in three parts (component removal and installation, miscellaneous repair, then troubleshooting, specifications and disassembly), drive systems with the rear axle, steering and brakes, hydraulics from the tandem pump onward, the track frame and its components, the operator station with cab removal and HVAC, and the dealer-fabricated tools. Because these are TRACK tractors the book carries a dedicated Track Frame and Components section - tracks, detensioning and tensioning, mid-rollers and idlers - that a wheeled 8000 manual does not. On wiring, precisely: Section 40 Group 10 is 'Wiring Harness Routings' - physical routing drawings for the cab, roof, main chassis, pump drive housing and transmission harnesses, each paired with a numbered list identifying every connector, from the beacon light and cab-to-roof connectors through the radar and wheel-speed sensors to the instrument control unit, the GreenStar connectors and the CAN terminating connector. That tells you where each connector physically sits; it is not a circuit schematic.

John Deere 8100T-8410T Common Problems This Manual Covers

Track thrown or walking off the idlers in a turn

Usually tension or alignment. The Track Frame and Components section gives the detension and tension procedure, the track alignment procedure, and tread setting adjustment, plus removal and installation if the belt itself is damaged.

Manual Section: Track Frame and Components p. 1131
Diesel in the oil or a tractor that dies under load from fuel starvation

The Fuel and Cooling Systems section covers replacing the fuel filter and fuel pump and bleeding the system afterward, plus removal and installation of both the fill tank and main fuel tank when contamination means cleaning them out.

Manual Section: Fuel and Cooling Systems p. 57
Oil leak between the engine and transmission

That is the transmission input shaft front seal, and it is a common seep point on these. The Transmission Miscellaneous Repair section has the seal replacement procedure for both front and rear input shaft seals along with the auxiliary drive pulley.

Manual Section: Transmission - Miscellaneous Repair p. 287
Intermittent electrical faults - gauges dropping out, GreenStar or radar losing signal

Chase the harness, not the ghost. The Electrical section's harness routing drawings show where each chassis, cab and roof harness runs, with numbered connector identification, and the Weather Pack connector repair procedures cover rebuilding the corroded terminal you find at the end of it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this manual actually cover the tracks, or is it just the wheeled 8000-series book with a T on the cover?

It is the dedicated track-tractor publication. The Track Frame and Components section covers detensioning and tensioning the track, aligning it, adjusting tread settings, servicing the rear wheel and removing and installing the track itself. That material is specific to the track machine and belongs to this book alone. p. 1131

I have an 8310T, not an 8300T. Same book?

Yes. TM1621 covers both the 8000T series and the later 8010T updates - the 8100T through 8410T are all in this one manual. Where procedures differ between the two generations, the manual splits them out, for example the transmission sections identify which models each procedure applies to.

Are there wiring diagrams for chasing electrical faults?

It has harness routing drawings, not circuit schematics. The Electrical section's Wiring Harness Routings group shows where the cab, roof, main chassis, pump drive housing and transmission harnesses physically run, each with a numbered list identifying every connector - radar, wheel speed, cab-to-roof, GreenStar, the CAN terminating connector and so on. For finding a chafed wire or a corroded plug, that is exactly what you need. If you want pin-by-pin schematics, that lives in the separate diagnostic manual, not this repair book.

Will it walk me through splitting the tractor and pulling the transmission?

Yes. There are three transmission sections: component removal and installation (transmission, scavenge pump, ground-driven pump), miscellaneous repair (input shaft seals, clutch pedal and cable, park brake disengagement), and full troubleshooting with specifications and disassembly, including mounting the unit in a repair stand and a cross-sectional view of the assembly.

What are the Dealer Fabricated Tools, and do I need them?

They are drawings for shop-built fixtures Deere expected dealers to make rather than buy - a differential lifting tool, a transmission support plate, rear cover and manifold guide pins, tap-out harnesses and a needle valve test hose. For big jobs like transmission disassembly, having the support and guide tooling makes the difference between a controlled job and a fight.
