Kubota L3130–L5030 Series Common Problems This Manual Covers

Hydraulic pump drive bearing noise

Running these tractors with the front end lower than the rear for long periods can let oil back away from the hydraulic pump drive gear, causing bearing noise and eventual failure. The Hydraulic System section covers the pump and its drive so you can inspect and service it.

Manual Section: Hydraulic System p. 414
Charging light on or alternator not charging

A battery light that stays on or low charging voltage usually points to the alternator, charge wire, or a connector. The Electrical System section gives the charging system mechanism and servicing, including alternator resistance and brush limits.

Manual Section: Electrical System p. 463
Driveline noise or vibration

Unusual noise or vibration from the driveline can come from worn bearings, loose components, or a lubrication issue. The Transmission section documents the shift sections, front wheel drive, and PTO system to trace the source.

Manual Section: Transmission p. 173
Hard starting or no crank

An engine that is hard to start or will not crank often involves the fuel, lubricating, or cooling systems along with the starting circuit. The Engine section covers the engine features, fuel system, and servicing to work through it.

Manual Section: Engine p. 81
Heavy or unstable steering

Steering that turns heavy or feels loose points to the hydraulic steering circuit or its components. The Steering section covers the hydraulic pump, steering controller, control valve, metering device, and relief valve.

Manual Section: Steering p. 387
Clutch drags or free play out of spec

A dragging or slipping clutch usually needs its free play reset. The Clutch section covers the pedal, disc, pressure plate, and release parts, with clutch pedal free play at 20 to 30 mm.

Manual Section: Clutch p. 153
