Part of the New Holland Operator Manuals.
Correct operation from first start to the 50-hour service is what the 254 pages of this New Holland TJ275 operator manual PDF (OEM ID 86977015) give you, for all five TJ series tractors, TJ275 through TJ450. Critical, non-critical, diagnostic and information warning displays are explained beside the ROPS post instrument cluster and display monitor programming. Field chapters cover PTO operation, the drawbar, three-point hitch setup with the Category III or IV-N coupler, remote hydraulics, ballast with suitcase and wheel weights, and tire pressures for maximum load. Fill a TJ275 with 24.0 liters (6.3 gal) of engine oil including the filter, then torque wheel-to-hub bolts to 530-570 Nm (390-420 lb ft). Coming up on the first 50 hours? Your checklist covers the coolant system, transmission and hydraulic filters, wheel hardware torque and safety items. Bookmarked and text-searchable, the PDF rides along in the cab on your laptop or phone, so the lubrication and maintenance chart stays with the tractor.

New Holland TJ275-TJ450 Common Problems This Manual Covers
New Holland TJ tractor cab HVAC switch light flashing 7 or 13 times in 10 seconds
Check the flash count on the HVAC switch against page 51: 7 flashes in 10 seconds means low pressure, 13 means high pressure. Reset by pressing the bottom of the switch to OFF, then back to ON. If the light keeps flashing, turn the HVAC system OFF and contact your dealer for service.
Manual Section: HVAC Control System Troubleshooting p. 51LOW BATTERY or LOW VOLTAGE message on the programmable display with 3 second alarm
Check the alternator belt first, then the battery water level, and test the battery. Page 71 flags LOW BATTERY when voltage drops below 11 volts. For LOW VOLTAGE, look for no alternator output, a high electric load, or a bad battery. RESET clears the message, but it returns after one hour until you find the cause.
Manual Section: Information Warning Displays p. 71Tractor batteries completely discharged and voltmeter shows no voltage across the battery terminals
Test each battery for an open circuit following page 225: disconnect the negative (-) cable and put a voltmeter across both terminals. No voltage means an internal open circuit, so replace the battery. A charger or auxiliary battery hooked to it can cause an internal spark and explosion. If voltage shows, switch the charger off before connecting, charge only in a well ventilated area, and never charge a frozen battery.
Manual Section: Battery Troubleshooting p. 225AUX NEUTRAL, TURN PTO OFF or HITCH CAPTURE message with alarm right after startup
Check which display is up on page 70's chart. For AUX NEUTRAL, move the remote hydraulic levers back to neutral; for TURN PTO OFF, set the PTO switch to OFF; for HITCH CAPTURE, match the hitch position control to the actual hitch position. Before every start, put all controls in neutral or park lock (page 82). Any SETUP message needs dealer calibration.
Manual Section: Diagnostic Warning Displays p. 70TRANS OIL FLTR, HYDRL OIL FLTR or AXLE OIL FLTR warning returning after pressing RESET
Replace the filter the display names: transmission filter for TRANS OIL FLTR, hydraulic filter for HYDRL OIL FLTR, axle filter for AXLE OIL FLTR. Page 71 lists each as a restriction warning. RESET only clears it for one hour, so the message keeps coming back until the filter is changed. For ENG AIR FLTR, clean the engine primary air filter.
Manual Section: Information Warning Displays p. 71SIT DOWN or CHECK SEAT SW message showing on the programmable display with alarm
Verify the transmission is shifted to PARK for a SIT DOWN message, sit down, then proceed, per page 71; if it persists, contact your dealer. CHECK SEAT SW means the seat sensed an operator for 25 hours continuously: with the key ON, stand up and sit back down. Never bypass the Operator Presence Safety Switch with heavy objects on the seat (page 25).
Manual Section: Information Warning Displays p. 71Frequently Asked Questions
How do I clear warning and service codes on a New Holland TJ tractor?
For critical faults, once the fault has been corrected, depress the RESET button on the Programmable Display to clear the fault. For non-critical warning displays, pressing the RESET button will clear the faults, however, the fault will redisplay after 10 minutes if not corrected. p. 68
What are the replacement specifications for the engine oil filter on the New Holland TJ275, TJ325, TJ375, TJ425, TJ450?

What is the procedure for changing the transmission oil filter?
The transmission filter should be changed at the recommended interval or when indicated by the programmable display service monitor. When installing, turn the filter clockwise until the gasket contacts the filter head, then tighten by hand another 1/2 to 3/4 turn. Do not use a filter wrench to install the filter. p. 207
