A flat battery, or no battery at all, gets its own starting procedure in this New Holland TN60SA operator manual PDF, a 212-page factory guide (OEM ID 87552876) for the TN60SA, TN70SA and TN75SA tractors. Maintenance intervals run from every 10 hours through 50, 300, 900 and 1200 hours, keyed to the dashboard indicator light, and the troubleshooting section sorts faults by engine, electrical system and hydraulic system. Field operation chapters cover electro-hydraulic FWD and differential lock control, PTO operation, the rear three-point linkage, rear remote control valves and metal or liquid ballasting. Set clutch pedal travel to 150 ± 2 mm (5.90 in.). Torque the rear wheel hub disk locknuts to 310 N⋅m (229 ft. lbs.). Your tractor's 300-hour service, or the first 50 hour check after delivery, is the kind of job you bring to this book. Bookmarked and text-searchable, the PDF goes wherever the tractor is parked, with the wheel track adjustment figures beside you.

New Holland TN60SA, TN70SA, TN75SA Common Problems This Manual Covers

New Holland TN60SA TN70SA TN75SA engine will not start or only starts with difficulty

Check the fuel level first, then confirm your starting procedure: start only from the seat with transmission in neutral, PTO disengaged and hydraulic controls lowered (page 27). Stop the engine before any service work (page 78). Bleed air from the fuel system, replace a clogged fuel filter element, and use oil viscosity and fuel suited to the temperature. Contact your dealer for an injector fault, per page 177.

Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 177
Tractor engine overheating with coolant temperature rising while working under heavy load

Clean the radiator core, then shift to a lower gear or reduce load. The cooling system is pressurized: let it cool, then use a cloth to unscrew the cap slowly and release pressure (page 28). Top up the expansion tank and check for leaks. Capacity is 10.0L without cab and 12.0L with cab (page 173). Check fan belt tension, replace a defective cap, tighten hose connectors and check the thermostat, per page 178.

Manual Section: Engine Troubleshooting p. 178
Battery charge light stays on with engine running or batteries not charging

Increase a low idle speed first. With the engine stopped (page 78), check the alternator belt tensioning device and replace a loose or worn belt. Clean and tighten loose or corroded terminals, then verify battery charge is at least 12.6 volts and check electrolyte level and specific gravity, per page 180. If the light stays on or flashes, have your dealer check the alternator.

Manual Section: Electrical System Troubleshooting p. 180
Hydraulic system not working properly, remote control does not work, or hydraulic fluid overheating

Check the oil level and top up. Transmission and lift oil capacity is 42L (page 173). Replace a clogged hydraulic filter and set flow regulation to a lower capacity. Disengage the PTO and shut off the engine before attaching implements (page 27), then connect hoses correctly, actuate the control levers and replace wrong male couplers with standard ISO 1/2 connectors, per page 181. If the fault persists, contact your dealer.

Manual Section: Hydraulic System Troubleshooting p. 181
Three-point linkage does not lift fully, lowers slowly, or operates slowly in draft control

Adjust the link arm top limiter if the linkage stops short of full lift. Check that the linkage cylinder tubes are connected correctly and reduce load; maximum lift capacity at the link ends is 2670 kg (page 196). For slow lift in draft control, adjust the combined draft/position control and implement settings, per page 182. If lowering stays slow, have the control valve checked.

Manual Section: Hydraulic Lift and Three Point Linkage Troubleshooting p. 182
Brake pedals feel soft or depress fully to the floor with the engine off

Check pedal feel with the engine off and again with it running. Soft pedals, full pedal travel or excessive resistance point to air in the braking system, leaking brake piston seals, worn brake discs, or a leaking brake release or brake valve, per page 183. These are not owner adjustments: the remedy listed for every one of these causes is to contact your dealer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I bleed the fuel system after replacing the fuel filter?

To bleed the fuel system, first unscrew the bleed plug on the fuel filter by two turns. Pump the lever until fuel without air bubbles spurts out, then tighten the plug. Finally, loosen the supply line to a fuel injector and pump the fuel primer pump lever until air-free fuel discharges, then tighten the line. Repeat this for each injector. p. 154

What is the correct procedure for adjusting the gearbox clutch pedal travel?

To adjust the clutch pedal travel, ensure the distance A is 150 ± 2 mm (5.90 ± 0.08 in.). Release the locknut, 2, and turn the nut, 3, counterclockwise to adjust the travel until the distance is correct, then tighten the locknut. p. 132

What is the specified valve clearance for the engine on the New Holland TN60SA, TN70SA, TN75SA?

The valve clearance for both inlet and exhaust valves must be 0.30 ± 0.05 mm (0.011 ± 0.0019 in.). This inspection must be carried out when the engine is cold. p. 147

What is the engine oil capacity for the TN60SA, TN70SA, and TN75SA?

The engine oil capacity is 6.7 liters (1.76 US gal) without the filter and 7.5 liters (1.98 US gal) with the filter. p. 173

What is the correct tension for the fan belt?

At the center of the belt run, apply a load of 78 to 98 N (17.5 to 22 lbs) to check for a deflection of 10 to 11 mm (0.39 to 0.43 in.). p. 133
