Put a dial gage on the crank of a stripped 4TNE98 and the endplay figure means nothing without the factory limit next to it. This Yanmar service manual, publication HINSHI-H8013-R1, is where those limits live: 208 pages in English covering the 4TNE94, 4TNE98 and 4TNE106, including the turbocharged 4TNE106T, whatever the engine happens to be bolted into.
The Engine Body chapter walks the full teardown: cylinder head, gear train and camshaft, crankshaft, valve seat correction and piston pin bushing replacement. Inspection and Adjustment covers valve clearance, fan belt tension and fuel injection timing, and separate chapters handle the injection pump and governor, lubrication, cooling, and the starting motor and alternator for both engine families. The 4TNE106T gets its own turbocharger chapter with service standards and reassembly procedure.
Before anything goes back together, the Service Standards chapter gives the wear limits and main bolt torques, so you order and measure once, not twice.
