Part of the John Deere Repair Manuals.
TM112019 is the repair half of the John Deere S-Series combine library, 2622 pages issued 01 NOV 15, covering the S550, S660, S670, S680, S685 and S690 STS. This is the book with the remove-and-install procedures, torque charts, specifications and photo callouts with legends for the whole machine: engine R&I and cooling, hydrostatic system and final drives, feeder house drives and reverser gear case, separator and concave repair, grain tank augers, cab and air conditioning, plus dealer fabricated tools like the compressor holding fixture and split ring tool. It pairs with TM111919, the diagnostic manual, which holds the schematics and tests. If you are physically tearing into one of these combines, this is the volume you want on the bench.

John Deere S550-S690 Common Problems This Manual Covers
Hard starting or no-start from stale fuel, water contamination or plugged fuel filters
The Fuel and Air section covers the diesel fuel system and air intake with remove and install steps for filters and supply components, while the General section's Fuels and Lubricants pages spell out correct fuel and storage practice so the problem stays fixed.
Manual Section: Fuel and Air / Diesel Fuel System p. 77Sluggish hydraulic response from restricted filtration or contaminated oil
The Hydraulic System section works through the hydraulic reservoir, motors and pumps, valves, cylinders and accumulators with full teardown and install procedures. Reservoir capacities are listed by model, 35 L (9.3 gal.) on the S550 STS and 30 L (7.9 gal.) on the S660 and S670 STS, so you refill right after cleaning out contaminated oil.
Manual Section: Hydraulic System / Hydraulic Reservoir p. 1244Grain loss or poor separation traced to a worn concave or tired separator drives
The Separator section carries separator repair and separator drives procedures for replacing worn components, and the Tune-Up and Adjustment pages in the General section give the settings and speed specs, like the S550 STS separator drive shaft speed of 1457 rpm, to verify the drives after reassembly.
Manual Section: Separator / Separator Repair and Drives p. 1924Cab air conditioning not cooling during harvest
The Operator Station section covers the air conditioning system and its components with remove and install procedures for the cab, and the dealer fabricated compressor holding fixture drawing lets you service the compressor properly on the bench instead of fighting it on the machine.
Manual Section: Operator Station / Air Conditioning System p. 1525Frequently Asked Questions
Does this manual cover electrical circuit drawings or fault codes?
No, and that is worth knowing before you buy. TM112019 is the repair volume: teardown, remove and install, torque values, adjustments. Electrical and hydraulic circuit drawings, diagnostic tests, calibrations and fault codes sit in the companion diagnostic manual TM111919, and the cover of this book points you there. Chasing an electrical fault means you want both books. Replacing parts you already know are bad means this one does the job. p. 1
Which engines and models does it actually cover?
All six S-Series STS combines: S550, S660, S670, S680, S685 and S690. The S550 runs the John Deere 6068HH061, a 6.8 L six cylinder air-to-air aftercooled turbo diesel rated 202 kW (271 hp.) at 2400 rpm with 22 kW (30 hp.) power boost. The S670 gets the 6090HH015 at 278 kW (373 hp.). The bigger machines step up through 353, 373 and 405 kW on the S680, S685 and S690. p. 41
Can I pull the engine or the hydrostatic drive pump with this manual?
Yes, both jobs are in here. The Engine section covers remove and install plus the cooling system, and the hydrostatic pump remove-and-install procedure sits in Power Train, with the Engine Gear Case and Control Valve section pointing back to it when you pull the gear case. Power Train covers the hydrostatic system, transmission and differential, and final drives, with the final drives taking 80W90 GL5 gear lube at roughly 8 L (8.5 qt.) each. p. 953
Does it cover feeder house and separator rebuilds?
In depth. The Feeder House section covers the conveyor, top shaft and slip clutch, feeder house drives and reverser gear case, lateral tilt cylinder and the five speed drive gear case. The Separator section handles separator repair and drives, conveyor augers and cleaning fan, tailings elevator, residue disposal and the header electromagnetic clutch. Grain tank cross augers, the vertical and horizontal unloading augers and the clean grain elevator get their own section too. p. 1671
Are the special tools dealer-only, or can I make them?
There is a Dealer Fabricated Tools section with drawings for building your own: a compressor holding fixture, a split ring tool and a hydraulic cylinder tool. Any shop with a welder and some stock can knock these out instead of hunting down dealer service tools. The rest of the manual calls out required special tools per procedure so you know what you need before the machine is apart in the yard. p. 2616
